Questions & Guidance for Location Owners

Will my property be used?

It may be used a great deal or maybe not at all.  Having good shots of your property will help attract attention from the hirer who could be looking for anything from a ruin to a terraced house to a castle…. to exactly what you are offering!

What are the daily location rates?

Anything from £1,000 upwards a day depending on the location and shoot.  When we negotiate fees on your behalf we take into consideration the type of shoot – film work/product photography/fashion/corporate/ film – the level of disruption to you, and of course, what your property has to offer. Our aim is to get you the best possible rate.

All you need to do is provide access and a clean, tidy location.

When will I be paid?

We take the payment for the booking from the client prior to the shoot and then pay the balance of the fees to you within 14 working days from the last date of the shoot.

What does Locations4Shoots get?

We deduct 20% commission from your fees and a £250.00 one- off registration fee only when you get your first booking.

The process

  • If a hirer likes the look of your property the Location Manager/Scout will probably visit first to check it out and hopefully make a provisional booking. They may well return with the Director, Designer and Locations Manager for another look.  Remember even at this stage they could be considering other properties.
  • When confirmation is given for a shoot we will arrange a simple contract between you and the hirer.  At this stage you may receive another visit from the technical crew – they will discuss their plans with you and also inform neighbours, police and the council regarding shooting arrangements as required.
  • We will also check the hirer has the appropriate insurances.  It is your responsibility (see terms and conditions) to check that you have appropriate insurances too against the very unlikely loss or damage arising from filming/photography at your property.

Day of the shoot

Crew like to come early to set up.  It’s best to welcome them then keep out of their way and leave the production manager or PA to manage the day.  If the crew want to come a day early to set up or need to return after the shoot to clear up and leave your property as they found it ( in their contract) then they will be charged at  the full day rate.

Overtime on shoot days is after 6pm – so please keep a note of time.
